Agreement between Minister of Environment Rahhal and nine municipalities to increase green space

New parks will be built in nine municipalities around Beirut. This is the project that was announced yesterday by Minister Mohammad Rahhal, during a press conference which was held on the occasion of the signing of agreements with the presidents of these municipal councils.

These municipalities, Baabda, Choueifat, Hadath, Kahhaleh, Ghbayreh, Hazmieh in Sinn El Fil, and Furn Ech Chebbak - Ain El Remmaneh - Tahouitat el Nahr, Jdaidet El Matn - Baouchriyeh - Sadd El Baouchriyeh - will receive a share of the budget by the Ministry for reforestation, a case of one billion pounds.

The minister said that following the agreement, municipalities must submit plans and maps for the creation of gardens and green spaces by the roadside, in specifying what plants they need, provided they belong to local species. Once these plans are approved by the department, ministry will pay 75% of the sum during the initiation phase of the project, and 25% after six months.
