Etymology

The name Kahlouniyeh finds its etymological roots in the original Arabic word "khôl" which identifies a fard blackish which was originally used in the Arab countries, for the makeup of the eyes. This town was in fact known in the past for its "khôl" trading and manufacturing activities.

Features

There are archaeological traces of an ancient water source has disappeared and the ruined castle of Souayjani who sits on the governor of this region in Kahlouniyeh. Nowadays, the castle lends its name to the Federation of Municipalities of Chouf Es Souayjani (FMCES).
