The International Maritime Organization (IMO) requested that Canada provide an expert in environmental emergency management to assist them in coordinating the international response to the oil spill in Lebanon.

Environment Canada is covering the salary costs and Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) is covering the costs associated with the flight, car rental and daily subsistence. This project helps ensure that the basic human needs of the conflict-affected communities are met through improved physical and environmental security.
