The recent conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has left the country in desperate need of humanitarian assistance. Landmines and other explosive remnants of war (ERW) produced by the conflict in Lebanon pose an enormous risk to civilian populations living in or returning to areas directly impacted by armed hostilities.

Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA)’s contribution is being used to provide the affected communities with mine risk education (MRE) programming. It is responding to an urgent need to mitigate against high casualty rates being sustained by the civilian population, including women and children.
