Signing of a cooperation agreement between the municipalities of Marseille (France) and Tripoli (North Lebanon)

On October 12th , 2011 a cooperation agreement was officially signed between Municipalities of Marseille (France) and Tripoli (North Lebanon). It was signed by Mr. Jean-Claude Gaudin, president of Marseille Municipality and Dr. Nader Ghazal President of Tripoli Municipality during the latter visit to France.

The agreement includes cooperation venture between the two local authorities consisting of projects on governance, sustainable urban development, protection of the environment, fight against air pollution in addition to coastal development and new information technologies. The signing ceremony of this occasion was held at the City Hall of Marseille on October 12th, 2011 in the presence of the Consul of Lebanon in France Mr. Issa. During his speech, Mr. Gaudin, president of Marseille municipality drew attention to the close relationship that Marseille has attained with Tripoli over the years and referred to the actions that were carried out by the two municipalities.

Dr. Ghazal, President of the Municipality of Tripoli, stressed on the importance of signing this agreement which conforms to cooperation between two cities taking place over decades. It also opens the way for more development actions, which will meet the expectations of the inhabitants of both cities. He also declared that the projects under construction will continue until 2015.
