Zgharta District
Zgharta District (kaza, caza, qadaa, قضاء) is one of six districts of North Lebanon Governorate.
It is bounded in the North and in the East by Minieh-Danniyeh District, in the South by Bcharreh District and on the West by Koura District and Tripoli District.
It extends over the sides of the western chain of the mountains of the Lebanon (the Mount Lebanon), starting by the river Qadisha to the South, up to the river El Bared in the North. Its altitude varies between 90 metres on the West, and 1 850 metres at the level of the mountainous summits, in the East.
Its population is estimated to 91 000 inhabitants. During the municipal elections of 2004, Zgharta District counted 53 053 residents, 98 662 registered voters, among which 62 563 actual voters.
Its administrative center is locate int the city of Zgharta, situated 10 km away from the city of Tripoli.
