Aakkar District
It is the only district (kaka, قضاء) of Aakkar Governorate. It stretches from the river El Bared in the south to El Kebir along the Lebanese-Syrian border in the north, an area of up to 776 square kilometers, making it one of the largest district of Lebanon.
It is bounded on the north by the international boundary, on the east by Baalbek-Hermel Governorate, on the west by the Mediterranean coast and on the south by Minieh-Danniyeh District.
Its population is estimated at approximately 330,000 people, equivalent to 8.9% of the total population of Lebanon At the municipal elections of 2004, district of Aakkar had 165,429 residents, 281,843 registred voters, including 155,407 voters.
The city of Halba hosts its administrative center. It contains lots of famous locations like Qabaait, famed resort town and is famous for its vegetables.
