This initiative involves conducting a socioeconomic impact assessment and developing a recovery plan for the Nahr el-Bared refugee camp and surrounding areas (North Lebanon Governorate). The assessment and recovery plan are used in planning processes related to the reconstruction of the camp, which was destroyed during the fighting in 2007 between Islamist militants and the Lebanese Armed Forces, and the surrounding area.
The planning process is done in close coordination between the Lebanese government, the World Bank, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestinian refugees, and other local stakeholders.
